OBF established a Bicycle Development Grant program in 2018 to benefit member organizations. Funds can be used in educational programs, materials, and events like Bike to School/Bike to Work or Open Street Days. We are very pleased to be able to provide this grant program to Ohio cycling organizations, to educate and encourage cycling in the state. The funds are provided through the Share the Road license plate fees that OBF receives from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

Please Apply by May 31, 2022 for the 2022 grant program.

Eligibility Checklist - Organizations applying must meet all the following criteria:
  • Must be Ohio Bicycling Federation (OBF) member
  • Must hold a current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3), or (7) of the Internal Revenue Code, listed on the IRS Master File and conduct activities within the United States
  • Grant requestor must match at least 20% of the requested grant
  • Grants range from $200 to $1000
  • OBF will not support infrastructure programs
OBF also sponsors cyclist education programs which may be found on www.ohiobike.org/education.

Bike Miami Valley, Dayton, OH 2020


Bike Miami Valley received an OBF grant to help fund their Fifth Street closure.

Link bike trips (Dayton bike share) starting and ending in the Oregon District increased by 26% at Oregon West and 5% at Oregon East during the month of September, compared to August start and end trip activity.

Gahanna Bicycle and Trail Advisory Committee, Gahanna, OH 2018-2020


Provide parts for the bicycles given to children by the Gahanna Gift Shop, a local church organization that provides gifts at Christmas and throughout the year. Gahanna BTAC gets abandoned bikes from the Gahanna police department and repairs them for the Gift Shop.

Ohio City Bicycle Coop, Cleveland, OH 2019


Scholarships for students to enroll in Shop Class and Traffic Skills Training to help more OCBC members become professional bike mechanics.

St. Henry Mission Center, St. Henry, OH 2019


Support of Steeplechase Tour, a historic ride through the land of the cross-tipped churches, with stops at 7 churches open to provide tours.

We Are Traffic, Toledo, OH 2019


Provide helmets to children in Sylvania in cooperation with the Sylvania police and fire departments and Toledo Metroparks. “Tickets” issued to kids with and without helmets. Tickets used to receive a reward of an ice cream cone from local businesses and also to pick up a new helmet from the Sylvania fire department.
